SKA-neftyanik will play in the Russia's Cup Finals for the fourth time in a row
As it had been widely discussed in the media and by bandy fans, our hometown team didn't happen to face lots of problems in the semifinal game against Dynamo Moscow. Dynamo, formerly a top contender for any title possible to grab, is now experiencing "a generation gap". A comfortable "four to nothing" after thirty minutes into the first half dispelled the doubts about the final result. Despite a fierce resistance showcased by the Dynamo bandy players later in the game, our team showed class and superb technique to lead the game up to the desired outcome of 7 -2.
The highlight of the match was the fact whether Pavel Ryazancev, a SKA striker, would be able to catch up with Yevgeniy Ivanushkin from Baikal-Energia, who was holding an all-time Russia's Bandy Cup scoring record of 313 goals. Pavel had had 311 "shots straight into the net" prior to the semifinal game against Dynamo. Having scored twice our team's player repeated the record in question. Now he has an opportunity to overcome it in the upcoming final game versus Yenisey. SKA will be facing the players from Krasnoyarsk in the final Cup game for the third time in four years. Yenisey edged Volga in the semis in the overtime, 5-4.
The Russia's Bandy Cup Finals 2017 is scheduled for October 28.
