NO PRAYER FOR VOLGA

SKA keep on going with a win streak beating Volga Ulyanovsk in the regular championships game.
Up until recently Volga had been confidently taking one of the top spots in the Superleague, however three losses in a row, including an "out-of-the-blue" fiasco on the homestand in the game against Sibselmash, 3-5, pushed them down to the eighth place in the standings. In fact, the game against SKA-neftyanik on home ice was a good chance to redeem themselves for the previous "slips of the skate and stick" and to clinch a berth in the top four formula setting, that gives some advantage over the teams down below in the upcoming play-offs. However, Volga couldn't call up the optimal line-up they can get, due to scratches, whereas SKA was missing one of the most gifted bandy players, Yuriy Shardakov, who had an injury in the previous game against Vodnik.
The commencement of the game displayed SKA's overwhelming predominance, that resulted in four unanswered goals, but Volga managed to come back on board by tallying three consecutive ones, which must be ascribed to a phenomenal organizing job by their leader Igor Larioniov. But this scoring outburst was the last of their achievements in the game last night. SKA players cranked it up and led it to a convincing win, 7-3. Maksim Ishkeldin had three goals and three assists in the contest.
Thus, our hometown players are giving chase to Yenisej for the top position and now relocating to Kazan, where they play Dynamo on the 17th.
